Abstract
Relevance: The development opportunities and limitations of Central and Eastern European SMEs play a crucial role in regional competitiveness. The issue of organizational transformation and international market entry is particularly timely in the era of ownership changes. Objective: This study aims to present how a Hungarian medium-sized enterprise – KTT Kubinszky Tömítéstechnika Ltd. – reached international integration through strategic and organizational development, with special emphasis on ownership and leadership transitions. Methodology: A qualitative case study was conducted using document analysis and semi-structured interviews. The focus was on organizational development practices, leadership styles, and the role of business networks. Findings: The case study reveals that the development of organizational culture, innovation-oriented HR practices, and a deliberate internationalization strategy were key factors in the company’s successful foreign market presence. The change in ownership opened new growth pathways for the organization. Conclusion: Successful international integration is closely linked to internal organizational improvements. For SMEs in Central and Eastern Europe, organizational renewal, knowledge sharing, and the building of international networks are essential for long-term sustainability.
